Perch are delicious, fun to catch and a major prey species of walleye. The most amazing walleye fishing experiences of my life occurred while fishing a #5 Rapala Shad Rap in the Perch pattern. We were fishing Lake Winnibigoshish in northern Minnesota, trolling for 'eyes in 10-14' of water in early summer. after and hour of trolling, we began getting hits about a half hour before sunset, and the next hour of fishing was absolute chaos. Once we dialed in our location, we had non-stop hits for an hour strair until it was too dark to see. I lost track of how many fish we caught that night, but I estimate nearly 60 between the 3 of us fishing. No they weren't monsters, but they sure were fun to catch!
The exact lure I was fishing is linked below. I always keep a few in my tackle box for when trolling is the tactic of the day.
